Canoe Float on Big Pine Creek

From the running waters of Big Pine Creek in Warren County (near Carbondale, Indiana…between Lafayette and the Illinois border), experience great views of native pine riparian forests, sandstone bluffs, and scenic canyons on a 5-mile canoe float hosted by the Indiana Forest Alliance. Great for beginners. Float guided by IFA Conservation Director (and Wabash Riverkeeper) Rae Schnapp.

Float: Saturday, August 11, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. 

CANOES & KAYAKS for rent: $20 each, cash only. Canoes hold three people max. Kayaks, just one. Reserve below. Float is free if you bring your own canoe. Travel back to your vehicle is provided, after the float.

Post-float cook-out: 4 – 6 p.m. (suggested donation per person: $10, cash only at the door; RSVP required by Thurs. August 9)

Want to stay overnight? Housing and campsites available on a restored prairie site and homestead nearby. Costs range from $10 for tent camping to $75 for a family of 4 in the lodge. Accommodations include a yurt, hammocks, or a bedroom. Indicate your interest in camping using the the registration form below and we’ll send you more info.
