Our Chance to Speak Directly to Indianapolis City Council

On Monday, Sept. 23., the Indianapolis City-County Council will hold a public hearing on the 2025 City Budget. All Indianapolis residents can speak at this hearing.

IFA activists have dedicated the last six months to pushing the City to include funds in the budget to purchase urban forests. The Council is listening and taking action. In July, the Council passed a unanimous resolution in support of urban forest acquisition funding and we are on the way to saving some of our most endangered forests from private development!

Imagine the impact of having dozens of speakers in support of Indy’s urban forests at the Sept. 23 hearing.

This public hearing should be our last one before the final budget is adopted in October. Let’s make sure the City Council hears our voices one more time!

Once again, we will meet at 6 p.m. at our office at 615 N Alabama St. Indianapolis, IN 46204

We have free parking on either side of the building within the north or south parking lot. But if it’s easier for you to park closer to the city-county building at 200 W. Market, or show up later, meet up with us at the meeting. There is ample paid parking around the City-County Building, located at 200 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46204.

We will walk to the City County Building beginning at 6:15 p.m.  The meeting itself begins at 7 p.m. It is a twelve-minute walk from our office to the City County Building.

Anyone who chooses to speak at this hearing will be allowed up to two minutes to speak directly to the City Council. We need as many people as possible to speak to ensure meaningful dollars are appropriated for the acquisition of the city’s dwindling forests.
