Layer’s musical performances are regularly featured in major films, popular music and on and off the Broadway stage in New York City. Much of his life has been spent leading musical hikes and chamber music raft trips down the Colorado River, in Scotland, and across the USA.  His stories, songs and dance tunes outline just how special the natural world was and is in the many mansions of traditional music.

Christopher is the founder and director of the New Harmony Music Festival & School, an all-acoustic music festival and summer music school in the historic southern Indiana village.  His credits include recordings with the likes of Sting, solo music for the film soundtrack to “King Arthur, The Legend Of The Sword,” and serving as traditional music consultant and performer with the New York Public Theater Company for Shakespeare In The Park.
