What is the most powerful step you can take to advocate for Indiana’s public forests? Talking to your legislator about the issue. Never done it before? Let us guide you! Click here to view the agenda for state forest lobby day.
You’re invited to the Indiana Forest Alliance’s State Forest Lobby Day Tuesday, January 16. Come to the Basile Theater at the Indiana Historical Society (450 W. Ohio St., Indianapolis) for a training on how to successfully lobby your state legislator. Register here.
This training will include details on the legislative process and more information about Senate Bill 275–the bill that would set aside 30% of state forests from logging–followed by a short Q&A session.
Briefings will start at both 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM (for those coming from farther away). There is free parking at the Indiana Historical Society (enter off New York Street, via West Street).
After the briefings, we will walk one block over to the Statehouse to meet with or seek out legislators. Click here to enter your address & find out who your state legislators are.
Ideally, you should call this week to ask for an appointmentwith your legislator on the lobby day. To reach your state senator call, 1-800-382-9467. To reach your state representative, call 1-800-382-9841.
Contact Indiana Forest Alliance Outreach Coordinator Samantha Buran at email@example.com or 317-602-3692 to let us know of your appointments or if you need help setting one up.
Thank you for your participation as a forest advocate!
