Attorney Morgan Whitacre, who has deep experience as a political fundraiser, is the new development director at the Indiana Forest Alliance.
Whitacre has served as campaign finance director for US Congressman André Carson, Indiana State Senator JD Ford, Freedom Indiana, and on three US Senate campaigns – for Baron Hill and Evan Bayh.
“Morgan brings an environmental passion and a unique mixture of skills as a fundraiser and a lawyer that will serve the Indiana Forest Alliance well as we continue our push to protect Indiana’s forests, particularly our urban forests and all the creatures that live within them,” said Jeff Stant, executive director of the Indiana Forest Alliance. “We are excited to have him on board.”
Before coming to IFA, Whitacre served as a development officer for Earlham College.
Whitacre has an undergraduate degree from Northern Arizona University in parks and recreation management with an emphasis in community recreation. He also has a law degree from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law, with a concentration and certificate in environmental and natural resources law.
He was an executive editor of the law review while in law school and had his note regarding the dangers of fracking (and the need to ban it nationwide) published.
He is married to his partner of 12 years, Mark Merchant, and they live in Little Flower neighborhood on the eastside of Indianapolis with their two dogs: a Pekingese (Mei-li) and Japanese Chin (Mochi).
